About the Village of Cooperstown:

Life in Cooperstown has indeed unfolded according to founder William Cooper’s vision. The Village of Cooperstown, with its rich array of museums and other diverse attractions, is the crown jewel of Otsego County and Central New York. Dubbed, “The Village of Museums”, Cooperstown boasts three globally recognized museums. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and Doubleday Field are known worldwide for our nation’s pastime. The Farmers’ Museum is one of the country’s oldest outdoor living history museums, showcasing rural life in 1845 in its lively village of historic trade and craft shops. The Fenimore Art Museum is home to one of the country’s premier folk art collections, as well as its world renowned collection of Native American art and artifacts.

In addition, the Glimmerglass Festival, a world class opera and theater venue, attracts 32,000 patrons each season to its Alice Busch Opera Theater on Otsego Lake. The Cooperstown Beverage Trail, New York State’s first official cuisine trail, features the region’s breweries, wineries and cider mill. Brewery Ommegang produces award winning Belgian-style ales and offers daily tours, summer concerts and meals at the Brewery Café.

The Fly Creek Cider Mill is a family- friendly historic mill with festivals and events held throughout the autumn, daily tastings of more than 40 specialty foods. Several village parks border Otsego Lake and offer picnicking, swimming and more. Glimmerglass State Park is located just nine miles to the north of the village and offers hiking, camping, swimming and picnicking in the summer months and cross-country skiing and tubing during the winter months.

Tourism and everyday residential life are integrated on Cooperstown’s Main Street. Between landmarks and museums, the business district is comprised of services and stores including hardware, clothing, banks, real estate and financial offices, post office, library, specialty boutiques, restaurants, bed and breakfast inns, hotels and motels. The Cooperstown Farmer’s Market, featuring the area’s best in local produce and runs throughout the year. About the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce- Founded in 1917, The Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce currently serves almost 500 business members locally and around the region. The Cooperstown Chamber provides business-related training and networking opportunities, and actively promotes a “Local First” consumer concept to support its business members and the local economy.

The Cooperstown Chamber also serves as the official hospitality hub to the thousands of visitors that come to Cooperstown every year. During the summer months, the Chamber office also staffs an information kiosk located on Main Street for the convenience of visitors. The Cooperstown Chamber plays host to several community events throughout the year including its annual Pumpkinfest Weigh off and Regatta in September and the Hall of Fame Classic Parade, which takes place before the Hall of Fame game on Memorial Day Weekend.
